Obituary of Hobert Bowling
Hobert Bowling, 94, of Walton, passed away at Rosedale Green Nursing Home on Sunday, December 25, 2022. The son of the late Nancy Ann {Hoskins} and Dave Bowling, Hobert was born in Clay County, KY on April 27, 1928. He married Truda Asher Bowling on July 8, 1945, and she preceded Hobert in death on May 13, 2012.
A proud veteran, Hobert served in the United States Army during WWII, and he retired as a diesel mechanic after many years of service. Hobert was a member of Masonic Lodge #794 in Manchester, KY.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time on his farm, he loved his tractor, chickens, Ford automobiles, and his beloved dog, Penny. A devoted and loyal husband, father, and papaw, Hobert most importantly cherished the time spent with his family.
Those left to carry on Hobert’s legacy are his two children, Ann (Jim) Kennedy and Cecil (Tara) Bowling; grandchildren Amy (Rick) Moore, Joe Kennedy, Nathan (Chastity) Leslie, and David (Bethany) Bowling; and great-grandchildren Carter, Brennan, Keegan, Natasha, Aaron, Braxton, Mabel.
Hobert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, Truda Bowling, and his siblings James, George, Reuben, Owen, Liza, Alex, Charles, Marie, Arthur, and Jessie.
A visitation will be held between 11 AM and 1 PM with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1 PM on Thursday, December 29th, all at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. Hobert will be laid to rest next to his wife at Highland Cemetery where military rites will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lucky Tales Rescue at luckytalesrescue.org.
