Thank you all for coming today. I am moved that my dad touched so many lives. I won't pretend that my dad was a saint but he was a man that I stand before you and say I am truly proud to call my dad. Dad was a man that felt his worth was measured by how well he provided for his family; so by that measure, he was priceless. We may not have had everything that we wanted but we had everything we needed. He made sure that there was always food in our bellies, a roof over our heads and clothes on our backs. Dad was not one to show his affections openly or tell us he loved us while we were growing up but we knew that he loved us with all his heart. It wasn't until we were grown that he began to tell us how proud he was of us and that he loved us; needless to say I was moved beyond words. I learned many things from my dad: how to work on cars, the importance of family sitting down in the evening for supper, how to be strong, and how to play jacks to name a few but most of all how to tell a good joke or play a prank. I made it a point my whole life to make my dad laugh because he had the best chuckle I've ever heard; and if I could get his shoulders going in it then I knew I had really made his day. Unfortunately for Butch many of these pranks were at his expense. As the song says "Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I come to understand there was always love in Daddy's hands" I feel my life is blessed because of knowing my dad and the things that I am going to miss the most are hearing his chuckle and feeling his strong arms giving me a hug. Dad, I love you and will cherish your memory in my heart for ever. Sher
