Obituary of M. Deane Poore

M. Deane Poore, age 69, of Walton, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Deane was last employed as a Recruiter for Baker Concrete Construction Company, but had previously worked (21 years) for L & N Concrete Company, and served as the Director of Equipment for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Deane was very proud to be a long time resident of Walton and formerly served as a Council Member for the City of Walton, a board member of the Walton Cemetery, a member of First Baptist Church of Walton, a member of the Walton Verona Masonic Lodge and a Walton Verona High School Alum (Class of 1960). He was the co-founder of the Walton Verona fast-pitch softball team and was elected to the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and the Indiana Softball Hall of Fame. Another of his passions later in life was wood working and he became quite proficient at creating custom pieces. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Grubbs Poore of Walton; daughter, Deana (Rob) Poore Clarke of Walton; son, Greg (Ginger) Poore of Verona; brothers, Lloyd Poore of Walton and G.J. Poore of Union; sister, Darlene Plunkett of Houston, TX; and beloved grandchildren, Chelsea Clarke, Lindsea Clarke, Taylor Poore, Zachary Poore, and Jacob Poore.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs in Walton. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Walton, 47 South Main St., Walton, KY 41094. Interment will be at Walton Cemetery.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are preferred to the Deane Poore Walton Verona Athletic Assistance Fund care of any Bank of KY.
