Clyde A. Basler of Union, KY was born April 30, 1936 in Oregon, IL. He went to be with his Heavenly Father Monday, November 8, 2010 from his residence in Union. He is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn. Clyde was the devoted father of Michelle Horton of Burlington, KY; Bryan Basler of Orlando, FL and Kerry Basler (Judy) of Lompoc, CA. The step-father of Robert Shoemaker, Jr. (Elizabeth) of San Ramon, CA and Keri Sporing (Bill) of Greenhills, OH; He is also survived by his brother Jack Basler (Betty) of Oregon, IL. As their grandfather, he was special to Greg and Travis Horton of Burlington, KY; Lacie Vines (Wesley) of Union, KY; Stephanie Basler of Florence, KY; William "Will" Ard III of Los Angelos, CA; Robert "Mac" Shoemaker, IV of San Ramon, CA; Emmeline Burnett (Jason) of Greenhills, OH. Clyde loved his great-grandchildren Gavin, Alexander "Alex", Caleb and Levi Burnett. His parents John and Marion Basler, sister Merlene Griffin and brother-in-law Don Griffin, brother Frank Basler and sister-in-law Betty Barboza were privileged to reach Heaven's shores before him. Clyde was a long distance truck driver for Sambo's for 23 years and retired from GE Aircraft on disability after 13 years. Clyde's illness restricted him to his home for many years. His beloved wife Carolyn cared for him and brightened his days. He loved his family. He was a member of Florence Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Florence Baptist Church, 642 Mt. Zion Rd. Union, KY. Dr. Tim Alexander will officiate the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at New Bethel Cemetery of Verona. Flowers are acceptable.
