Obituary of Ellen Sloan

Ellen Clare Wissel Sloan, age 49, of Independence, passed away suddenly, Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. She was a Team Leader at I.R.S. in Covington, a member of the Society of Creative Anachronism, and attended First Church of Christ in Burlington. Ellen loved hosting get togethers and spending time with family and friends. She also served as a band mother at Scott High School and had participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure several times. Growing up, she attended St. Judes Elementary School and Mother of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, OH. Her father, Bernard Wissel preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Frank Sloan; son, Connor W. Sloan; mother, Clare Wissel; sisters, Joan Ross, Pat Krueger, and Jane Schnurr; brothers, Rick Wissel, Bob Wissel, and John Wissel. Visitation will be Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Independence Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Connor Sloan college fund, c/o any Fifth Third Bank.
