Obituary of Garnet Jones

Ethel Garnet Gosney Jones, age 93, of Independence, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She was a retired manager at United Dairy Farmers and cashier at her son's Ameristop Food Mart in Independence. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cold Spring, where she previously taught Sunday School. Ms. Jones expressed her love of sports by participating in multiple events in the Senior Olympics and was voted Sports Woman of the Year in Northern KY in 2002. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, cooking and baking and always made decorated cakes for family birthdays. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Jones in 1996 and son Larry Jones, Jr. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Smith and Bonnie Graziani both of Cold Spring; sons Gary Jones of Columbia, S.C., and Tim Jones of Independence; sister Ruby Smith; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Entombment will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Floral Hills cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Hickory Grove Baptist Church and St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.
