Obituary of Olan Cheesman

Olan Layne Cheesman, age 81, of Walton, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence. He was a retired Manager for Walton Lumber Company and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Cheesman was a member of Walton Christian Church and the Walton Masonic Lodge. Through the years, he enjoyed playing and coaching basketball, baseball, and softball, and he also recruited for Berea College's basketball teams. A former player wrote, "Mr. Cheesman was a pillar of our community. He raised a wonderful family. He would take the time to teach the sport of the game, but most of all he would teach the game of life and the word of God". He is survived by his wife (of 59 years) Coreta F. Rice Cheesman; daughters, Layna (J.R.) Feagan of Verona, Dr. Dayna (Ali) Mohammadione of Toledo, OH, Jayna Cheesman of Lexington, KY, Mary (Steve) Ganzel of Albany, GA; son, Callen (Kim) Cheesman of Verona; brother, Richard Cheesman, Jr., of Latonia; sisters, Lois Piercefield of Latonia and Imogene Bradley of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Abe Mohammadione, Leila Pallitta, Nick Feagan, Armon Mohammadione, Ashley Cheesman, Braden Cheesman; and great grand-daughter, Jeila Pallitta. Visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Walton Christian Church, 50 South Main Street Walton, KY 41094. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the church. Interment will be at Richwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Walton Christian Church.
