Obituary of Martha Maddox

Martha Scott Weldon Maddox, age 88, of Independence, went on to be with the Lord, Friday, October 5, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was the former proprietor (along with her husband) of Wagner Electrical and Plumbing Supplies in Independence and a faithful member (since 1941) and former Sunday School Teacher at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence. Ms. Maddox enjoyed gardening, crocheting, watching and feeding her backyard birds, and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 52 years, Dwight Maddox in 1994 and brothers, Clifford, Courtland, Jr., and John Weldon. Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn (Gary) Halberstadt of Independence and Linda (John) Motzer of Wellington, FL; son, Rev. James E. (Sandy) Maddox of The Villages, FL; sister, Betty Jo Hadley of Monroe, OH; brother, Kirt Weldon of Fairfield, OH; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, October 8, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Rd., Independence, KY 41051. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence is assisting the family. Interment will be at Independence Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
