Obituary of David Kurtz

David LeRoy Kurtz, 53 of Independence, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012. He graduated from Williamsport Senior High School in Williamsport, PA in 1976 and Pennsylvania College of Technology Penn State, Williamsport, PA Campus Division with an associate of applied science in aviation technologies May 19, 1990. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, a Marine Corp Veteran, a member of the NRA, and avid hunter, fisherman, corn hole player and golfer. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Kurtz of Williamsport, PA. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Susan Kurtz (nee Rhoads) of Independence; daughter Rhonda (Daniel) Martin of Crittenden; son Michael Kurtz of Independence; mother Hazel Kurtz of Williamsport, PA; sisters Patricia (Jim) Messner of Cogan Station, PA and Nancy (Fred) Michel of Swan Lake, NY; and grandchildren Alyssa Carroll and Charles Carroll both of Crittenden. Visitation will be from Monday, June 4, 2012 from 6:00 PM until time of funeral service at 8:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Florence. He will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery North of Williamstown. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 1 Medical Village Dr. Suite 213 Edgewood, KY 41017.
