Obituary of Debra Hanna
Debra (Elbert) Hanna, age 73, of Edgewood, KY passed away in the early hours of October 15, 2024. She was cared for lovingly by her family and the staff members at St. Elizabeth Hospice Care after a devastating stroke.
Debby spent her early years living in Covington, KY with her parents and her three younger siblings. She served her community as a nurse’s aide. After meeting her husband, Bill Hanna, she devoted her care to her family. She raised a daughter and a son, always being very involved with their care and standing as their number one supporter. As she grew older, her interests evolved. She joined a group of women known as BOW- Becoming an Outdoor Woman. They enjoyed hunting together for deer and turkey. She and her husband of 50 years found joy in spending time with their granddaughters. They went glamping together in their camper with their two Chihuahuas, Teako and Chewie. Debby was an avid fan of word search puzzles.
Debby will be forever missed by her husband; William (Bill) Hanna, children; Angi Schaefer and Craig Hanna, granddaughter, Whitney Schaefer, siblings; Diana (Dan) Powell, Don (Debbie) Elbert, and Denny (Karen) Elbert.
In heaven, she is greeted by her parents, Richard “Dick” and Melva Jean Elbert, and her granddaughter, Ashley Schaefer.
To gather together and honor Debby’s memory, we will have a Celebration of her life on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 beginning at 10:00am and her service beginning at 12:00pm at the Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.
