Obituary of James "Jim" Paxton
James Paxton, age 75, a man known for his kindness and positive outlook, passed away at the St. Elizabeth hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of the late James Paxton and O’Dell nee Rideout Paxton. Most recently Jim was a neighbor settling in Crittenden, KY though formerly lived across the nation in Oregon, Utah, and Virginia.
Jim retired from a career managing and consulting for book publishing companies. He started with Prentice Hall in Utah, then went to Wadsworth which brought him to Kentucky. After being sought out by other companies, he retired from VHPS (MPS) in Virginia. His appreciation for others and for life made him easy to get along with and it served him well in his work and home life. Even through his battle with muscular dystrophy he stayed positive and enjoyed the small things in his life.
Jim was a man who relished sports of all kinds. He loved and excelled at his golf game, playing golf through all his travels, and he enjoyed watching sports on the television, He was a logical man, enjoying all things technology and gadgets, reading books- especially John Grisham and he loved card games. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play in the pool and always enjoyed conversations with friends or even people he never met.
Jim is preceded in death by his father and by his mother; who passed from the same muscular dystrophy, also by his best friend Terry Stiefbold. His family who survives him include; son and daughter Ben (Angela) Paxton, Angie (Morgan) Wheatley, one sister and best bud; Carol (John) Seely, grandchildren; Zoe, Lilly, Wyatt Paxton, and his cherished pup; Zeke who loved him and kept him company.
A committal service will be held for Jim on July 19th at 11:00 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North at 205 Eibeck Ln, Williamstown, KY 41097.
