Obituary of Sharon H. Smith
Sharon Hope Smith (nee Lindon), age 74 of Walton, KY died peacefully at home in her sleep early Sunday morning, May 19, 2024. Sharon was the wife of Dwight Smith, and daughter of Brownloe and Alta Mae (Gillum) Lindon. Sharon was very proud to have been born and raised in Breathitt County Kentucky. She enjoyed interior decorating, mowing the grass, needlepoint, cooking, working jigsaw and wordsearch puzzles, and visiting with family. She enjoyed reading novels by Danielle Steel, Mary Higgins Clark, and other authors. She was also an avid UK Men’s Basketball fan and attended many SEC March Tournaments with family.
Sharon was preceded in death by James Paul Burris, her first husband and her children’s father, sister Vonda K. Lindon Turner (2019), brother-in-law, Eugene Turner (2020), and niece, Letitia Dawn, step-daughter Angela Dawn Smith Kelly Gilmer, and step-granddaughter, Tara Kelly.
Left to mourn her loss is her husband of 39 years, Dwight Smith; her son, James “Craig” (Tiffany) Burris and their children, Mason (Lilly) Eubank, Tatum Ponzer, Macy and Cole Burris; her daughter Alicia Beth (Matthew) Davidson and their children, Carter and Alexis Davidson. Sharon’s step-children and grandchildren are; Kathy Lou Peace, her children are Matthew (Gracie) Peace, Bryan (Caitlin) Peace, and their child Josephine, Katey (Josh) Peace, Angela Gilmer’s son, Dante’ Gilmer, Maria Stratman, and her children Kristin Stratman, and Kelsey (Paul) Maxon, David (Donna) Smith, and their children Savannah and Jarrett; Sharon’s sister Vickie (Doug) Watts and her brother Kevin (Tasha) Lindon, and there are several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00am, service will begin at 1:00pm both at the Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Sharon will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Garden, 5536 Old Taylor Mill Road, Covington, KY 41015. Immediately following services family and friends are welcome to a luncheon at the Florence Baptist Church, 642 Mount Zion Rd, Florence, KY 41042.
