Obituary of Walter J. Dauzenberg
Walter J. Dauzenberg, 96, of Fort Wright, KY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Rosedale Green Nursing Home in Covington. The son of the late Walter H. and Margaret {Miller} Dauzenberg, Walter was born in Newport, KY, on January 21, 1928. After graduating from Newport High School, Walter went on to serve in the United States Army and later graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
A devout Christian, Walter was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ since 1941. He was known for his great talent for engineering and fixing things. Over the years Walter enjoyed the time spent in his workshop where he created anything from furniture to toys; he would even finish basements and assist with building homes! But it wasn’t all work for Walter, he had a fun side and a great sense of humor. A proud father and grandfather, he most of all cherished the time spent with his family.
Walter will be deeply missed by his beloved daughters, Amy (Danny) Gribbins and Beth (Michael) Hils; grandchildren Ashley Gribbins, Jordan Hils, and Justin Hils; and great-granddaughter Allie Gribbins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris {Gossett} Dauzenberg, and sisters Marie Dixon and Betty Jane Dauzenberg.
A memorial service will be held for Walter at 1 PM on Saturday, April 27th at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 415 Park Avenue Newport, KY, 41071. Walter will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ by clicking here.
