Obituary of Richard B. Ritter, Jr.
Richard “Dick” B. Ritter, Jr., 81, of Independence, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. The son of the late Loretta Lee {Lohrum} and Richard Bernard Ritter, Sr., Dick was born in Covington on November 9, 1942. After 43 years of service, Dick retired from General Electric as an Operations Manager. He and his wife, Harriet, were members of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence for over 30 years.
Whether Dick was fishing, hunting, doing yardwork, woodworking, or even spending hours mowing his and the neighbor’s lawn, he loved being outdoors. In his spare time, he also enjoyed tinkering, reading, and playing cards. Most of all, Dick loved his family and the time spent with all of them.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Harriet Ritter, née Pollitt; children Bernie Ritter, Sherry Ritter, Tracey (Matt) Elrod, Paul (Rachel) Ritter, and Andrew (Jennifer) Ritter; siblings Cindy (Joe) Allgeyer, Paul Ritter, Cathy (Bud) Hays, Ruth Garnett, and Joan (Bob) Cain; grandchildren Amber, Megan, Taylor, Ricki, Erin, Emily, Beckham, Julia, Anson, and Riley; brother-in-law George Pollitt; best friend Danny Cade; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family whom Dick cherished.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brothers David and Charles Ritter; sister Theresa McCann; great-grandson Dawson Elder; sister-in-law Diane Ritter; and daughter-in-law Melissa Ritter.
A visitation will be held between 4 PM and 7 PM on Sunday, April 21st at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday, April 22nd at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 5313 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051.
