Obituary of Mary E. Janeway
Mary E. Janeway of Dry Ridge, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. She was born in Sadieville, KY on June 2, 1936, to the late Weldon and Dorothy {Fields} Hamilton. She retired from Woodspoint Nursing Home as a cook and a caregiver. Mary kept a strong faith throughout her life. She loved to attend church and read the Bible. She also enjoyed singing, cooking, and being a caregiver. Mary loved her family with every ounce of her being. She was a dedicated mother, mamaw, sister, and friend who will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Janeway; siblings, Addline Mahanny, and Carol Herrmann; and her brother-in-law, Buddy Turner.
She is survived by her loving son, Wayne Allen (Nannette) Janeway; beloved grandchildren, Angie (John Begnaud) Baker, Destiny (Josh) Smith, and Adam Dobbs; great-grandchildren, Kayla Baker, Clay Baker, Caden Blessing, Joe Plummer, Skylar Langford, and Joshua Begnaud; 1 great-great-grandchild, Rowan Ellison; sisters, Linda (Rick) Burchfield, Donna Turner, and Gloria (Doug) Fry; her aunt, Corda Kidwell (102 years young); several nieces and nephews; her church family; as well as other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Mary will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY. Memorial donations can be made in her name to Cherry Grove Pentecostal Church, 3605 Greenville rd. Dry Ridge, KY 41035.
