Retha Patrick Hopkins, age 99, of Florence, KY (formerly of Independence, KY), passed away Thursday night, January 11, 2024, at her residence.  She was a homemaker, a former member of the Eastern Star, and a member of Banklick Christian Church.  Retha enjoyed baking, sewing, and bowling.  Her husband, John B. Hopkins, son, John “Junior” Hopkins, parents, Theodore and Hattie Patrick, and sisters, Marie Schmidt and Judy Lou Patrick, grandson, Nicholas Hopkins, and daughter-in-law, Donna Hopkins, all preceded her in death.  Retha is survived by her children, Shirley Wartman, Diann Dryer (Douglas), Harrison “Buddy” Hopkins, Jerry Hopkins (Shirley), and David Hopkins (Vickie); daughter-in-law, Beverly Hopkins; ten grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.    Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.  For directions or to leave the family a message of condolence, please go to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
