Obituary of James "Buddy" Turner
James “Buddy” Turner, 84, of Florence, KY, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. The son of the late Red and Emma {Monday} Turner, Buddy was born in Anderson Twp., OH, on February 5, 1939. Buddy married the love of his life, Donna {Hamilton}, on September 20, 1958. He owned and operated B&D Cleaning for 17 years and retired from T&W Printing in Latonia after 43 years of service.
Buddy was a member of First Church of Christ in Burlington. He enjoyed participating in any way he could at church throughout the years. He was in church choirs, assisted with Sunday school classes, drove the church bus, sang in the choir, and was a past deacon and usher. In his younger years he loved going camping and playing softball, basketball, and golf.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years, Donna Turner; sons Michael (Beverly) Turner and Gary Turner; daughter Shawn (Todd) Simpson; grandchildren TJ (Emily) Galliher, Allison Turner, Andrea (Sergio) Guerra, Christian (Claudia) Turner, Avery (Nick) Angstadt, Seth Turner, and Scott Turner.; step-grandchildren Christian Simpson and Nadja (Casey) Craven; 10 great-grandchildren; and childhood friend Tom Houston.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his sister Alleen Martin-Cooper.
A visitation will be held between 11 AM and 1 PM on Monday, January 8th with the funeral service to immediately follow at 1 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051.
