Obituary of Thomas Frederick Sallee, Sr.
Thomas Frederick Sallee, Sr., age 88, of Summerville, SC (formerly of Ryland Heights, KY), passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at his residence. He was a retired Engineer for CSX Railroad (formerly L & N) and a Kentucky Colonel. Tom had a deep faith and previously served as a Chaplain for the Railroaders Union at CSX and was a former Deacon at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence, KY. Tom also opened the first Satellite antenna business in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area and donated a satellite antenna to Hickory Grove Baptist Church. After retirement, he and his wife, Nancy, enjoyed traveling, including to Sydney Australia, Hawaii, Greece, Rome, and more. Tom also cherished his family and spending time with them. His daughter, Kimberly Renee Sallee, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife (of 67 years), Nancy Brashear Sallee; children, Thomas Frederick Sallee, Jr. (Virginia) and Tracie Sumner (James H., Jr.); grandchildren, Larissa Wilson (Adam), Emily Ann Sumner-Whitney (Kevin), Nicholas James Sumner, Jessica Huber (Jeff), Britney Love-Colwell (Cory), and Sabrina Deitz; great grandchildren, Emmett Wilson, Madelyn Wilson, Isabel Grace Whitney, Kai James Whitney, Freyja Marie Whitney, Rowan Huber, Hayden Huber, Harlan Huber, Thea Huber, Brooklyn Colwell, and Maddie Colwell. Visitation for Tom will be Friday, December 29, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Interment with military honors will be at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY. Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse International Relief, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
