Obituary of Robert Clayton Pope
Robert Clayton Pope, 90, passed away at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY on December 13, 2023.
He was born at home in Florence, KY on December 30, 1932 to Russell Pope and Loraine Scherder. Bob was a master Mason and in his younger years enjoyed racing cars and playing baseball. He always could be found watching old westerns and listening to classic country music. Bob loved apple pie and strawberry ice cream with black coffee. After nearly forty years as a truck driver, he retired. He was described as a “take charge kind of guy” who worked hard to provide for his family.
Those left behind by Bob’s untimely passing are his children Debbie Hooper, Sandy Dean, Cathy Randolph, Jackie Powell, Bobby Pope, Jimmy Pope, and Troy Pope; numerous grandchildren including Autumn Miller; many great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Preceding Bob in death was his beloved wife Nora “Weezy” Pope.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Bob will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, 2167 Dixie Hwy, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017. Although he battled prolonged illness, the loss of Bob was sudden. Instead of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made online to assist with cemetery expenses.
