Obituary of Daniel Justino Mena

Daniel Justino Mena of Burlington, age 87, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Florence, KY. He was born in El Viejo, Nicaragua on September 26, 1936, to the late Roberto Caseres-Zainz and Ana Mena. Daniel served in the Nicaraguan Airforce before becoming an American citizen. He retired as a mail carrier for Eagle Express. Daniel was a faithful member of Heritage Fellowship in Florence, KY and loved to read the Bible. He also enjoyed playing dominos, dancing, and rooting for the Florida Marlins baseball team. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Arnoldo Mena, Aristide Mena, Angela Mena, Luis Mena, Enrique Mena, and Conchita Mena; and his son-in-law, David M. Dauwe.  

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Mena; children, George, David, and Jackie; siblings, Maruca Navarro and Sergio Mena; grandchildren, Brian, Alexis, Christopher, Daniel, Rachel, Michael, Nicholas, Joseph, Sofia, Max, and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Josiah, Ansleigh, Kailey, Addie, Jocelyn, Greyson, Nicholas, Penelope, Margot, June, and Hudson; his friends, Gloria, Carmen, and Gladys; as well as other friends and relatives who will cherish his memory.  

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 2:30 PM at Heritage Fellowship, 7216 US-42, Florence, KY 41042.
