Obituary of Ruby Frances Hensley

Ruby Frances Hensley of Independence, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. She was born on February 22, 1941, in Cynthiana, KY to the late Leon and Ruth {Humphries} Lemons. Ruby retired from Schwans as a line attendant. Her most important job however, was being the best grandma that she could be. Ruby adored all of her family members, but her grandkids held a special place in her heart. She was always taking them to festivals and amusement parks. She also enjoyed playing cards with her sisters and cousins and playing Bingo. Ruby had a big personality and she loved to make others laugh. She had a warm, kind heart, but could also be a bit feisty at times! She was a mom, mawmaw, and sister, who will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Samuel Leon Hensley; granddaughter, Cala Michelle Hensley; her siblings, Linda Fay Conley, Virgil Lemons, and Phillip Lemons; and her great-grandbaby, Wrangler Gentry.

Survivors include her loving son, Eric (Calyn) Hensley; her boyfriend of many years, Denny Patrick Ryan; beloved grandchildren, Samuel Charles (Yvette) Hensley, Joshua Gabriel (Cori) Hensley, Erica Hensley, Christopher James, Amanda Lee Hensley, Amber Marie (Nathan) Gentry, and Jack Thomas Clay Hensley; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Chisolm, Mary Bruck, Wanda (Rick) Hoeter, and Teresa (Robert) Davis; as well as several other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.
