Obituary of Mary Lee Simpson
Mary Lee Simpson, 76, of Independence, KY, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Charter Senior Living in Edgewood. The daughter of the late William and Ann {Moylan} Wainscott, Mary Lee was born in Covington, KY, on December 14, 1946. Mary Lee retired from Procter and Gamble after 20 years of working in Consumer Relations.
Mary Lee was a member of St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church in Erlanger. She enjoyed going on family camping trips and loved to travel to Gatlinburg for her annual family vacation. She was an excellent seamstress and was known for her talent of creating clothes for the family, Halloween costumes, and wedding party dresses. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds games while eating her favorite snack, M&Ms. Most of all, she was a proud wife, mother, mama, and great mama; her family meant everything to her.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 56 years, Leroy “Lee” Simpson; children Lori Fuehner, Lisa (Shane) Ryle, Gregory (Ralna) Simpson, and Holly (Michael) Chatterton; brothers Tom (Chris) Wainscott and Tim Wainscott; sister Julie (Tim) Stewart; eleven grandchildren Kahlee, Logan, Savannah, Conner, Colten, Alex, Lane, Casey, Cayde, Addison, and Grace; and one great-granddaughter Millie.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lee was preceded in death by her brother Richard Wainscott.
Visitation will be held between 8 AM and 10 AM with a memorial mass to follow immediately after at 10 AM on Thursday, October 19th at St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Rd, Erlanger, KY 41018. Mary Lee will be inurned at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Independence.
