Obituary of Julian "Dick" Ivey
Julian “Dick” Ivey, 89, of Walton went to be with the Lord, Monday, October 2, 2023. Mr. Ivey was born on November 13, 1933, in Graceville, FL to the late Willis and Minnie {Williams} Ivey. After high school, he served 4 years in the United States Navy. Julian then moved to Chicago, IL to attend Coyne Electrical School, eventually settling in Cincinnati, OH where he worked for Sears. After meeting and marrying his wife Patsy in Maysville, KY, they had 5 children together and moved to Florence, KY to live in the house he built for his growing family. Julian began working in construction the same year and later went on to establish his own company, Ivey Foundations. Before retiring in 1998, Julian obtained his private pilot's license and really enjoyed flying his Cessna. He loved the Lord and reading his Bible. Julian also enjoyed spending time with family, watching old westerns, and listening to gospel music.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Clegg, and Ray Ivey; sisters, Theatrice Parish, Letha Hunt, Opal McAliley, Mollie Knight, Billie Jo Adams, and Martha McKnight; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Ivey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia “Patsy” {Condon} Ivey; children, Stephanie (Les) Leeke, Catherine “Beth” Pope, Julianne (Scott) Frey, Tricia Ivey, and Julian “J.D.” (Camille) Ivey, Jr.; beloved grandchildren, Lauren (John) Durstock, Devin (Breana) Cummins, Josh Pope, Colt Ivey, and Amber (Nick) Niewadomski; brother, Charles “Boo” Ivey; sister-in-law, Nell Ivey; as well as several other friends and relatives who will cherish his memory.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Julian will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Maysville, KY on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or to St. Patrick’s School, 318 Limestone St. Maysville, KY 41056.
