Obituary of Sally J. Clare Lohmoeller
Sally J. Clare Lohmoeller, 86, of Independence, KY, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, after receiving hospice care at her eldest son’s home. The daughter of the late Eugene and Clara {Fruh} Clare, Sally was born in Covington on July 11, 1937. Sally married the love of her life, Alois “Fred” Lohmoeller Jr. on July 21, 1956, he preceded her in death on December 22, 2014. She retired from Johnny’s Toys in Latonia after 38 years of service.
Sally was an active member of Staffordsburg United Methodist Church since the mid-1980s. She enjoyed collecting hearts and snowmen, playing cards and bingo at the Independence Senior Center, completing puzzles, and crocheting. She was a proud American and was known for her patriotism, and her favorite holiday to celebrate was Valentine’s Day.
Those left to carry on Sally’s legacy are her two sons, Wayne (Becky) Lohmoeller and Bernie (Amy) Lohmoeller; grandchildren Nathan (Brook) Lohmoeller, Timothy (Amanda) Lohmoeller, Lucas “Luke” Lohmoeller, and Logan Lohmoeller; and great-grandchildren Elias, Madison, and Haeden.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Alois “Fred” Lohmoeller Jr.; brothers Henry “Bud” Clare, Robert “Bob” Clare, Alan Clare, and infant brother Thomas David Clare; and sister Mary Moore.
A visitation will be held between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM with the funeral service to immediately follow at 12:30 PM on Thursday, September 28th at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. Sally will be laid to rest next to her husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY. Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Moon Brothers Post 275 by mail at P.O.
