Obituary of Randall Smith

Randy Smith, age 38, of Florence, passed Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. He was the Assistant Plant Manager for Lawrenceburg Distillers Indiana and was the Cross Country Coach for Walton Verona High School and a member of the Kentucky High School Coaches Association. Randy adored his children, Carson, Chloe, and Claire Smith, and was very active in their lives including coaching some of their volleyball and basketball teams. A graduate of Walton Verona High School, Randy had participated in basketball, cross country and track and was inducted into the W.V.H.S. Cross Country Hall of Fame. He was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at W.K.U. and treasured spending time with family and friends, especially playing basketball and corn hole. Along with his children, he is survived by his parents, Ronald O. Smith and Cynthia A. Doepke Smith; siblings, Tim (Luis) Smith, twin brother Danny (Kristy) Smith, Ronette (Jimmy) Moore and Ryan Smith; grandmother, Ruth Ann Smith; mother of his children Tara Coe Calhoun; girlfriend, Emily Wisher and her daughter Elizabeth; nieces and nephews Madison, McKenna, and Mason Moore and Brayden, Karly, and Holden Smith; and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Walton Verona High School Gymnasium, 30 School Rd., Walton, KY 41094 for which the family has requested casual attire. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 47 South Main, Walton, KY 41094. Interment will be at New Bethel Cemetery of Verona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Randy Smith Memorial Fund, c/o of any Huntington Bank or to Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.
