Obituary of Kevin Scholnick

Kevin Douglas Scholnick, age 58, passed away suddenly after a brief but serious illness at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY on August 9, 2023. Born in Florence, KY on February 9, 1965, he was the son of Ronald Frederick Scholnick and Dorothy Lee “Doris” Tincher.

Kevin was a graduate of Boone County High School and worked for many years in the packaging industry—most recently for Zumbiel Packaging, where he was both a forklift driver and an associate in shipping and handling. Tremendously proud of his yard, he also enjoyed attending concerts, watching his favorite show The Big Bang Theory as well as UK Basketball and the Bengals. In his younger years, his free time was spent camping at The Gorge with friends and riding his motorcycle. This quiet and gentle giant was a tough talker when he did speak, but with a sweet side buried deep inside. Whether you knew him as beloved partner, friend, brother, uncle, papaw or dad he will be forever loved and missed.

Those left to hold Kevin’s memory in their hearts are his fiancée Ruby Steele; his daughter Jessica Jones (Brian); son Kevin Scholnick, Jr.; siblings Robert “Bob” Scholnick, Timmy Scholnick (Mary), and Peggy McHenry; grandchildren Rebecca, Kaitlyn, Autumn as well as a host of close relatives and dear friends.

Please join us to share your favorite memories and stories of Kevin at the visitation to be held at Chambers and Grubbs, 8461 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY 41042, on Monday, August 14, 2023. The family will receive guests from 5:00 PM until shortly before the start of the funeral service at 7:00 PM.  Following the funeral and according to Kevin’s wishes, he will be cremated.  He will then be laid to rest in a private family ceremony in the near future.
