Obituary of "Peggy" Margaret Mary Cordray

Please share a memory of "Peggy" Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Peggy passed away on April 28, 2023. Her family is certain her parents, Jim & Marlene Kaelin, along with her brother, Major David Kaelin welcomed her into heavenly peace. She was born on February 4, 1959, in Covington, KY. Her early years were spent living on the family farm in Piner KY and by high school she moved to Walton KY where she lived the remainder of her life.

Though the loss of Peggy brings such sadness, we reflect upon her life with an overabundance of pride. One of the most notable qualities she possessed was her unending generosity.  Peggy gave without expectation and loved with a fierceness fitting of a true Waltonian.

Peg was all about family and that extended beyond blood. She touched the lives of countless individuals, from those she cared for with disabilities to those she welcomed into her home through foster care.  And it goes without question that the latter was where she found her true calling. Fostering children was not a job to her, it was what made her happiest. Her home was warm and welcoming, and she always had room for anyone that needed her.

The comfort, stability, and love she brought into the lives of her children was so natural that it may have been overlooked, but the clarity of what she meant to Carly, Allie, Chablis and Danny was more than apparent when in her presence.  They were simply her absolute joy.

Peggy was hilarious. Her open mouthed, head tilted back laugh is embedded in our memory. She was known for her “Peg Latin” and could easily destroy the English language much to the enjoyment of her family. She had the orneriest sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes on unsuspecting victims. Peggy enjoyed Pepsi, hamburgers & chicken wings. In her spare time, she could easily be found painting and wallpapering her walls only to turn around and do it all over again. She loved riding in her beloved red Jeep with the top down, or spending time on her boat with her husband. She enjoyed picking her lottery numbers and watching her soap operas.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Jack Cordray; beloved children, Danny Kuhl, Chablis (David) Crain, Alexandra (Dakota) Burgess, and Carly (Ryan) Turley; siblings, Terri (Jerry) Muennich, Jim Kaelin, Tim (Cheezy) Kaelin, Mike Kaelin, John Kaelin, Lisa (Mike) Petrie, Tom (Caroline) Kaelin, Marlayna (Jason) Cooney, and Nick Kaelin; sister-in-law, Christina Kaelin; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.

Please join us in celebrating Peggy’s life on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 45 N. Main St. Walton, KY 41094.
