Love and prayers for the entire family of Connor. My great-nephew Connor was such a well mannered, soft spoken and fun young boy when we were around him. Connor's kind and soft spoken personality and demeanor personally reminded me a lot of his uncle Brad Bateman when Brad was a young boy and even nowadays. My daughters loved playing games, playing on playground, running, jumping, kicking balls, shooting hoops and even catching crawdads in a creek with Connor and Carter years ago. Young man you will be missed by many! Rest peacefully in heaven with your grandmother, great grandmothers and all other loved ones!

My nephew Connor was always such a sweet quiet boy whenever I was around him, always with a smile on his face (except when he and his brother were getting into it). My best memories with Connor are: when I would go visit when he and his brother were still little and lived in Gate City, hearing him and Carter call me Uncle Brad, hanging out with them and sitting laughing looking at funny stuff on my phone. Jumping waves with him at the beach and accidentally “about drowning” him (as his Mom would say) when I was holding him and glanced over at Carter for a second and a wave hit him in the face. Connor and Carter coming over to our house to hang out or spend the night with my son Landon. Landon and Connor were close and big buds. Going to see the monster trucks at Bristol Motor Speedway, ice skating, birthday parties, playing football in the back yard, fishing, playing silly games downstairs, various farms/corn mazes/zombie paintball around Halloween, swimming, going to dinner, and listening to him and Landon playing on the computer/PS4. Connor loving on the dogs until he started to break out because he was allergic but would do it anyway because he loved them. His chuckle when he thought something was funny. Family events at the Beasley’s on the river, Grandma and Grandpa Bateman’s, Billy’s, and at Poppy’s. Darci telling me about various things going on in his life with school, friends, baseball, etc. and how proud she was of Connor and both of her boys.

I will always remember Connor as a very sweet and quiet kid. He would come down to play with my son Reid. He was always very respectful and nice. They played on the Dozers team together where he was a great teammate. He will be always in our hearts and missed.

Matt and I had the opportunity when your boys were young for them to come and spend the night with us so you all could have a date night. I was so excited because that was before we had our own children. Connor slept mostly on my chest all night and then in the middle night he peed all over me and the bed. Matt and I just laughed. It was one of those members that just stuck out in my mind. Little did I know it was just an inkling of what was to come with my three. You always had precious sweet boys.

Anita and I were blessed to spend a little time with Connor and Carter in the early fall of 2022. Our most vivid memory was the afternoon Connor returned home after a baseball game where the coach let him pitch. He hadn’t practiced as a pitcher but his team won. He was super excited. He was a wonderful young man and his memory will live in our hearts and the Sowdon family legacy forever.
