Obituary of Elmer "Vernon" Henderson
Elmer Vernon Henderson, 89, of Florence, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Freda {Easton} and Elmer S. Henderson, Elmer was born in Sparta, KY, on June 16, 1933. He married the love of his life, Eula Mae {Wallace} on July 6, 1957, she preceded him in death on July 11, 2020.
Elmer served in the United States Army. He retired from Cast-Fab Technologies Inc. and Cincinnati Milacron where he worked as a Time Study Engineer. He dedicated his life to the Lord by serving in multiple churches in Northern Kentucky as a deacon, choir member, and Sunday School teacher.
In his spare time, Elmer enjoyed reading, wood working, gardening, and needlework.
Elmer will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kimberly (Fred) Hockney; grandsons Vernon Hockney and Simon (Bethany) Hockney; great-grandchildren Riley Ann Hockney, Caroline Louise Hockney, and Elizabeth Scott Hockney; sister Louise Spencer; sisters-in-law Janet Henderson and Mary Wallace; and a host of nieces, nephews, and neighbors whom he cherished dearly.
In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Eula Mae Henderson, and his brother Harold Henderson.
A “Curbside Condolence” visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, between 2 PM and 5 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Those who wish to provide support to the family may drive past to view Elmer and offer condolences to the family from the safety of their own vehicles. The family asks that guests remain in their vehicles and wear a face covering. Funeral services will be private, but recorded and available for viewing via YouTube.
