Obituary of Judy King
Judy King of Florence, age 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, January 27, 2023, at St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, KY. She was born in Somerset, KY on March 14, 1941, to the late Jack and Lucille Laugherty. Judy loved her job as a bookkeeper for Drees Homes up until the time of her retirement and was a faithful member of the Gathering Place Church for 35 years. She loved attending church when she was able, spending time reading, creating and crafting, watching hallmark movies, and visiting Florida’s beaches every year for a girl’s trip. Judy loved all animals, especially her family cats. Her heart for animals and people is why she supported the World Wildlife Organization (she loved elephants so she wanted to sponsor one) She was also passionate in supporting St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Wounded Warrior Project. Judy cared deeply for others, especially her family. She loved to help people in any way that she could and often lifted others up in prayer – she was a prayer warrior! Judy was a dear friend to many, and the most wonderful, loving mother and best friend to her children who will miss her beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Laugherty.
She is survived by her loving children, Lisa Anne (Alan) Lay, Laura Lynn (Steve) Laney, and Leslie (David) Markesbery- who she considered another “daughter”; several close nieces and nephews; as well as other close friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.
