Here is the day that you got to meet my daughter Aubrey or as you called her “my namesake” for the first time. You were so excited and happy when you found out that she had the same name as you. You then told me the story of how your parents wanted your name to be Aubrey. However, the midwife couldn’t spell Aubrey and she wrote Aubra on your birth certificate instead and your parents didn’t want to go through all of the trouble of changing it so they just kept it as Aubra. In this picture you can see the look of surprise and happiness on your face when I told you that her name was Aubrey. I didn’t know when I named my daughter Aubrey that your name was supposed to be Aubrey too, so it was a surprise to me also when you told me that. After that day, Aubrey and you became best of friends and she loved you very much. Every night when we said our prayers she always prayed for you and for God to keep you safe and healthy and to take away all of your pain and granny too. I will make sure that she never forgets her namesake. Rest peacefully Dugan we love you and we miss you. Until we meet again ❤️
Dugan,
Even though you were not my grandpa by blood you were still my grandpa in every sense of the word. I love you and we miss you dearly already.
When I had my daughter I named her Aubrey and you always called her your namesake. You got so excited when you first met her and got to hold her especially when I told you her name was Aubrey. You told me the story of how your name was supposed to be Aubrey but the midwife didn’t know how to spell it and messed it up when she wrote it down as Aubra on your birth certificate. You were so happy that my babygirl and you shared the same name. I have pictures when we stopped for a visit after Covid started going away. You and Aubrey were walking hand in hand together through your back yard on the bridge that went over the creek and you both were picking wild flowers together and looking at the little waterfall the creek was making. You both had the biggest smiles on your faces and I remember hearing her little giggles as you both made a beautiful memory together that I was able to capture. You also loved your old truck and so did my boys. They would always ask you to see it every time we came to visit and you loved to show off your truck, so of course you said yes every single time. You would pick the boys up and sit them inside the truck with you and you would show them all of the cool stuff inside, and you and the boys would be out there forever just hanging out in your truck. They loved that so much and so did you. There are so many memories that I could share that I could go on forever, and I will cherish every one of them.
Rest peacefully now Dugan and tell Granny I said hi and that I miss her and love her too when you meet back up with her in Heaven. We love you both so much. This is goodbye for now, but not forever, Until we all meet again
