My Dad (Bud) Cheesman always spoke so highly of Wayne. He always said he was a true dear friend. When I would see him anywhere, he would always say. I had my Daddy’s smile. He was such a pleasant man. Always a smile to greet me. You all have my deepest sympathy for such a dear man. Prayers for strength to get thru the days ahead. I am sure Wayne and my dad are up there talking of their days in the construction jobs. RIP. Wayne Riley

My heart is hurt but I know Red is finally where he has been wanting to go as he said to me many times he was ready. Your now at peace without the pain you suffered for so long. Now the pain will remain in those here on earth that loved you so much. Your a very special person Red and I thank God I had you in my life. Fly high Red and remember you owe me a dance. ❤️ Love Sally

What a wonderful man, have such good memories for many years. He and my Dad were farming buddies…I suspect there was more talking going on than farming!
Love and prayers to his sweet family!

So sorry for your loss. The world needs more kind , gentle, hard working family oriented men like Wayne. We always enjoyed talking to him and the Bach Family considered him a true gentleman and friend. What a wonderful Father and Grandfather you were blessed to have. We won’t forget him.

Q: What will you never forget about Wayne?
A: I am proud to have called Wayne Riley my Uncle.
Growing up down the road from my Grandparent’s farm; I learned a lot about hard work. Besides my Grandparents, Uncle Wayne was a perfect example to learn all about work ethics, lending a helping hand, and always finishing a given chore.
He was kind hearted and always seemed to wear a smile.
In our younger days I know (and speaking for myself) us four grandchildren probably were a handful of mischievousness at times when we were together.
After working a full day and then coming home to farm chores, I’m sure our shenanigans would have tested the patience of a Saint.
On several occasions we would do something we knew we shouldn’t have done, and he would tell us to go find the biggest switch and bring it back to him. We took our good old time finding one. While all along our real discipline was thinking about what we had done and why we were on this search in the first place.
When we did return he was never there and never once used that switch. We certainly learned our lesson.
After growing up one of the things I admired most about Uncle Wayne was his laugh and great sense of humor. He was also witty, smart, hard working, helpful, and loved his family.
I am blessed to have had him in my life.

John Harney posted a condolence

Q: What was Wayne really good at?
A: Wayne was the best neighbor a farmer could have. When we tried to figure out the weather, during late spring, to mow our first cuttin' of hay, the hay would generally get wet. As time went on we realized Wayne's never got his hay wet. So the solution to our problem was "Wait for Wayne to cut hay" then we'd cut hay. No more wet hay for the Harney's.
I told Wayne later on, after we were both out of the cattle business, about our success in watching for him to cut hay and he laughed. He said he was never sure when to cut hay, but when he'd see the Harney's started cuttin' too, he knew he'd got it right.
They don't make 'em any better than Wayne Riley. I'm proud to call him a "Friend".
Honored to be entrusted with the care and satisfaction of families since 1906
