Harold Louis Campbell, 88 of Walton, passed away on December 17, 2022, after a short illness. He was born in Walton, KY on June 13, 1934, to the late Russell B. and Maybel Mayhugh Campbell. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from Walton Verona High School and University of Kentucky College of Banking. Harold was the Chairman of the Board and on the Board of Directors of Florence Deposit Bank working his way up from making checkbooks. He then went on to become President of Liberty National Bank of Northern KY, worked for Bank One, was a 50-year member of the KY Banking Association and finished his banking career of 51 years at Heritage Bank of Florence as a Sr. Vice President where he retired at 76 years of age. Harold was a Boone County Commissioner for one term and a member of the Dinsmore Home Foundation. He later enjoyed renovating many foreclosed homes in Florence to give back to the community and was presented with a Proclamation from the City of Florence for doing so. He was Assistant Treasurer of the City of Florence, on the Florence Traffic Management Committee and the Florence City Planning Committee, Director of Triple Crown Country Club, Chairman of the Boone County Advisory Board LNBNK, the Walton-Verona Foundation Committee, and the St. Luke Hospital Foundation Board.
He founded and was the President of Campbell Bros, INC., was a member of the Walton Christian Church, Eagle Creek Country Club, Boone County Businesspersons, Walton Masonic Lodge #719, and was presented with the key to the city of Walton. He was a huge UK basketball fan, loved his favorite movie Shane, Barney Fife, Longmire, and will be sadly missed by many friends and family.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Leota June Campbell of Walton; daughter, Lora Elaine Campbell of Cincinnati; son, Thomas Harold Campbell of Henderson, Nevada; sister, Betty Jean (Richard) Arns; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters, William Morgan Campbell, Hugh Alan Campbell, Russell Blanche Campbell, and Dorothy Campbell Robinson.
A private ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the following charity of your choice: Fairhaven Rescue Mission, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, Paralyzed Veterans, Make a Wish Foundation, or your favorite charity.
