Obituary of "Sonny" Bilz

Valentine Louis “Sonny” Bilz, age 82, of Independence, KY, passed away, Monday, September 5, 2022, at his residence.  He was a retired Superintendent of Construction for Coppage Construction.  Sonny was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence, KY and a U.S. Army Veteran.  He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, farming, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Ann Willenborg Bilz; brothers, Charles Bilz and Edward Bilz; and great grandson, Kamden Reckner.  He is survived by his wife, Janet Stanley Bilz; children, Lisa Stricker (Doug) and Mike Reckner (Lisa); sisters, Carol Bilz, Theresa Willenborg, Frances Gauck, and Marie Atkins, brother, Robert Bilz (Carla), grandchildren, Kaitlin Blackburn, Drew Reckner (Kayla), Ben Stricker, and Lauryn Reckner; and great grandchildren, Cayden Blackburn, Kinsley Reckner, and Madelyn Blackburn.  Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 3285 Mills Rd., Taylor Mill, KY 41015.  Interment will be at Independence Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  For directions or to leave the family a message of condolence, please go to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
