Obituary of Joyce Lynn Tolliver

     Joyce Lynn Tolliver, a lifelong resident of Kentucky, went to be in the loving arms of the Lord while surrounded by her family at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, KY on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the glorious age of 88 years old. She was born in Oneida, KY on April 5, 1934, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (nee Spurlock) Hensley.

     Joyce worked as a cafeteria manager for Boone County schools and was even the former P.T.A. President at New Haven Elementary School. In her leisure time, Joyce enjoyed sewing and traveling all around the world. She also enjoyed cooking and made exceptional spaghetti with meatballs, date nut bread and around the holidays, Christmas cookies. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her beloved family, who she cherished deeply. Anyone who knew Joyce knew that she was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend anyone could ask for.

     Preceding Joyce in death were her faithful and devoted husband of 61 years, Troy Bluford Tolliver; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Michael and Annie Tolliver; sister, Geraldine “Geri” Preston; and brothers-in-law, Fred Lilienthal, and Raymond Lloyd.

     Those left surviving to carry on Joyce’s legacy include her loving children, Dean (Teresa) Tolliver and Tracy Lynn (Dr. Philip) Leming; sisters, Aileen Lilienthal, and Norma Lloyd; grandchildren, Rob (Shellie) Stanley, Kevin (Sarah) Tolliver, Jesse (Tiana) Tolliver, Andrew Horn, and Evan Horn; great-granddaughter, Annie Lynn Tolliver; brother-in-law, Cecil Preston; special friend, neighbor and caregiver, Steve Witt; as well as extended family and friends she touched during her life, who loved her dearly and helped fill her life with so much joy.

     A visitation celebrating Joyce’s life will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Joyce will then be reunited and laid to rest by her husband’s side at New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, KY.
