Obituary of Janet Agnes Deck

     Janet Wolnitzek Deck, 66, passed away on Wednesday June 1, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Edgewood, KY.  Jan was born on February 27, 1956 in Covington, KY to the late Harry and Aldine Linder Wolnitzek.

     Jan worked as a CMA for many years in nursing homes and home health care.  She was currently working for their family owned business, Munday Lock and Safe, where she worked with her husband, Rob.  Jan was a foster parent for many years and a “second mom” to many.  She will be remembered for her kind, compassionate heart and her nurturing ways. She had a great love for animals, especially her cats.  Jan enjoyed traveling, music, dancing, and loved to read.  She was very opinionated and loved her politics, but was always striving to educate and better herself.  Jan had a deep passion for helping others; however, her greatest love was her family. 

     Jan was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rosemary Wolnitzek.

     Those left here to carry on Jan’s legacy are her loving husband of 37 years, Robert “Rob” Deck; siblings, Harriet  (Joseph) Smith, Sr., Lawerence (Teresa) Wolnitzek; nieces and nephews, Jojo Smith, Harry Smith, Richard Smith, Franklin Wolnitzek, Christie Wolnitkzek, Michael Smith, Jill Deck, Jennifer Deck, Nina Duran, Hannah Duran, Matthew Duran, Matthew Haddix, Julia Ruth, Raelynn Deck, Nicholas Deck, Taylor Deck, Cole Deck, Marcus Barber and many more.  Jan also leaves behind her very special, four-legged friend, Cootie Bug Deck, who will greatly miss her.

     A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
