Marcella Gooch Fields loved to volunteer
Marcella Gooch Fields loved to volunteer her services at a hospital and a church.
"She had strong spiritual beliefs and wanted to help others," said her son, Marc Fields of Erlanger. "She had a very giving personality."
Mrs. Fields, 81, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at her home.She was a retired accountant with Cross Co. Mrs. Fields was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Sarah Circle, Happy Loafers, Emery Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 392, St. Luke Hospital West Auxiliary, Fort Wright Leisure Timers and Golden Age Social Club at St. Pius.
"She was always there to help somebody," said her son. "She looked for things to do to help others.
"If the church started a new mission, she was the first one to be there to help."
Mrs. Fields was a dedicated mother., "She was our rock," said her son. "She encouraged us to succeed, and she put all of her effort into making sure we were all OK. She enjoyed her grandchildren. Her family was her backbone."
Mrs. Fields enjoyed traveling. "She probably visited every state park in Kentucky," said her son. "She also took several cruises and enjoyed that quite a bit."
Other survivors include a daughter, Connie Sapp; a son, Wayne Fields of Walton; a sister, Loraine Requardt of Edgewood; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erlanger.
