Obituary of Rodford R. Thornton

Rodford Russell "Buck" Thornton, 73, of Alpine, Tenn., formerly of Covington, died Thursday at his home. He was a retired mechanic and truck driver with Wilson Freight Co. His wife, Imogene Stephens, died earlier this year.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Smith of Covington and Tammy Stephens of Erlanger; sons, Michael Thornton of Covington and Gary Thornton of Independence; a sister, Virginia Howard of Walton; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
