Obituary of Mary Velma Sebastian

Mary Velma Turner Sebastian, age 87, of Taylor Mill, KY, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

Mary was born in Talbert, KY, to the late William H. and Golia Griffith Turner. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, and a retired Kenton County school teacher. Mary was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church for 56 years, where she formerly served as Sunday School teacher; and leader of the BYWs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, reading, tending to her flower garden, and spending time with her family. Mary was a member of the Gertrude Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Henry E. Sebastian; daughters, Brenda S. Schadler, Mary Beth Sebastian; brothers, Paul, Chester A., and Cecil Ed Turner; sisters, Arminda, Wilma Jane, Ann Ola, and Martha R. Turner. Mary is survived by her children, Paul E. Sebastian, Dianne A. Sebastian, and Phyllis (Mike) Sebastian Patton; grandchildren, Benjamin C. (Elizabeth), Zachary E. (Jackie) Schadler, Leann Sebastian (Chase) Hogg, Michael W., and Laura E. Patton; great grandchildren, Halle G. Hogg, and Cora S. Schadler; brothers, James D., Wilburn B., Jasper L., and William A. Turner; Sister, Grace W. Turner; along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mary will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 3 to 6 pm at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018, at 10 am at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Covington KY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mary’s name may be made payable to Oak Ridge Baptist church, 6056 Taylor Mill RD, Covington KY, 41015.
