Timmy,
To one of my brothers from high school. We did everything together because you were always there with your brother and great friend Todd Downs. I got to see you in February for the first time since I was probably 20 years old. We had a very candid conversation and it was exactly like it was in high school and we picked up just like we were brothers again. It was a very special day for me. I literally felt like someone finally understood me because we had many things in life in common. Thank you for that day my brother, I will never forget it.
I was in awe today at your funeral watching hundreds and hundreds of people attend with everyone saying the same thing. Timmy, the carefree have glass full very competitive gentle giant.
We are all going to miss you so much but we are so happy that your home with the Lord with your mother. Tell her hi and thank her for being my mother too. Your family practically raised me in high school and they were my support team too.
You would have been so so proud today. You had so many people that loved you on this earth and your brother Todd did it all and did it right at your eulogy. I know you were looking down laughing and smiling and crying all at the same time.
We were all so lucky to spend time with the very talented beautiful Timmy Downs on this earth. Someday we will all join you in heaven playing some basketball or baseball yelling at each other and having the time of our lives.
Love you

Dear Family,
I would like to extend my sincerest sympathy to you and your family. Timmy and I were friends from back in the good old days of Twenhofel Middle School and all through High School. Although we didn't see much of each other except for reunions and the occasional concert or two at the Florence Freedom ball park; I will always have fond memories of him with his big smile and warm heart. I hope the peace of the Lord will be with you all through your loss and your time of grief.
Sincerely,
Janet Frohlich

As Timmy's high school baseball coach I can tell you this - he had as much talent, drive and determination of any player I coached in my 40 year career. A freak injury in 1982 to his throwing arm probably short circuited a chance of making a name for himself in baseball. I know he had many more talents, among them singing. I found that out the hard way in Louisville at the Valley Invitational. He decided to sneak out of his room at 11 and go down and entertain the patrons in the lounge. They loved him.
I could not stay mad at Timmy, and I tried. But he always had a way of bringing a smile to my face. I will miss him.

My dear friend Timmy………..I still can’t believe this. I don’t even know where to begin. There is no way to list all the things we did together (and I’m not sure the statute of limitations has expired on all of them yet). You, Todd and the rest of the Mt Zion Rd crew, we made memories for a lifetime. There was never a boring day when we were all together…….you name it, we probably did it………….or if we didn’t, we tried to talk someone else into doing it. Some of the happiest times of my life occurred right there on that road between our houses and the surrounding woods and ponds. Hunting, fishing, basketball, football, wiffleball, tennis ball, stickball, ramp jumping, obstacle courses, vine swinging, sled riding, snowball fights, apple fights, bb guns wars, magazine finding, windshield braking, you name it. We were even charter members of the Mt. Zion Rod and Gun Club. We lived. We laughed. We made each other better not even knowing it at the time…….back then we just called it competition or winning. We did all of this before any of us were even able to drive. Once old enough, we then expanded our mayhem into surrounding areas while still maintaining our base camp and importance of family back on Mt. Zion. As we got older we drifted in different directions, but we always remembered, and enjoyed those times we had. Now that’s all we got………….but when you add them up and look at them, they make me very happy and thankful for that time we shared……we wasted very little of those years and I thank you sharing them and making them great.
Todd, Terry and entire family I am so sorry for this incredible loss. Please find solace in knowing that the stories will live on through the all the people my friend Timmy touched in his unique, kind way. Love and miss you all,
Shawn Bode

We cannot express enough our deepest sympathy to his family. He was like a son to us, always at our house laughing, talking and even asking for advice at times. We followed him through many of his sport activities and even many antics he and his buddies would pull on people. It's just so hard to believe he is no longer with us. Our daughter says he was the brother she never had. REST IN PEACE TIMMY.
