Paul and I were friends from Junior High through College. We had many good times together. Starting in about 9th grade through high school he would make arrangements each year for him and I and a couple of other friends to skip school and take the Fort Street bus to downtown Detroit to watch the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at Cobo Arena. One year Don Canham (the legendary U of M Athletic Director and the meet manager) came up to us and gave us four tickets for the evening finals! We also had our first jobs together at about age 15, helping another friend's mother pack up the contents of a school that was moving. Though I attended Wayne State University in Detroit, I would often meet up with Paul to study in the modular study trailers at U of M - Dearborn. Paul always had a whole slew of friends around that I also got to know...some really good people. We'd enjoy going out to Angelo's for pizza on Michigan Avenue and would often listen to Bobby Lewis and the Crackerjack Band in east Dearborn on the weekend. He enjoyed quirky humor, and we once saw Steve Martin in concert at Pine Knob. My memories with Paul were all so good and filled with lots of laughs. Even though I haven't seen Paul in decades, the picture attached to this obituary is so Paul...a big grin and a little mischief in his eyes! I send my heartfelt condolences to his family.
