Obituary of Gwendolyn P. Hughes
Gwendolyn P. Hughes, of Independence, KY passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the age of 75.
She was born in Anderson, SC on January 2, 1942; the daughter of Clint and Christine Powell. Gwendolyn worked as a custodian for Anderson Memorial Hospital in Anderson, SC and enjoyed crocheting, watching soap operas and listening to Elvis Presley. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delbert Hughes; twin-sister, Wwendolyn Powell and brother, Kenneth Powell.
Gwendolyn is survived by her loving children, Valerie Davis, Dennis Hughes and Mary Zugg; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
As per the family’s wishes, no formal services for Gwendolyn will take place locally. The family will have a gathering of friends at a later date in Anderson, SC.
