Obituary of Clarence Vanover Jr.

Clarence Vanover, Jr., age 78, of Independence, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospice.

He was born to the late Clarence Sr. and Myrtle Vanover on December 12, 1939 in Anchor, KY.

Clarence worked for Hilton Davis Chemical as a utilities manager and was a member of the Independence Senior Citizens.

He enjoyed doing yard work and being outside, but above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Clarence was a fun loving man who loved life and brought joy to anyone he encountered. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha “Sue” Vanover in 2009 and his daughter, Buffy Owings in 2015.

Clarence is survived by his loving daughters, Sherry (Tom) Wright and Donna Vanover; son-in-law, Dennis Owings; brothers, Nick Vanover and Larry Vanover; grandchildren, Nick (Megan), Kellie and Abby; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Visitation for Clarence will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 10AM until 12PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. The Funeral Service will begin at 12PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will immediately follow at Independence Cemetery. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 1 Medical Village Dr., Edgewood, KY 41017.
