Obituary of Thomas "Big Tom" M. Cornelius
Thomas Martin “Big Tom” Cornelius, age 71, of Florence, KY, formerly of Independence, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his residence. He was a retired Machine Operator for Meyer Tool, a member of Bradford Masonic Lodge and a member of Piner Baptist Church. Tom enjoyed playing cards (especially euchre), traveling, fishing, John Deere tractors, Simon Kenton sports and UK basketball. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Alexander Cornelius and Georgia Marie Campbell Cornelius; sisters, Emma Lou Armstrong and Mildred Cummings; and brother, Bobby Cornelius. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judith Ann Wagner Cornelius; son, Thomas Cornelius Jr. (Cheri); his grandchildren, Trey McDermott, Chloe, Samantha and Duncan Cornelius; and sister-in-law, Betty Cornelius.
A visitation for Tom will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services immediately following at 1 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Interment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
