Obituary of Luther Deaton

Luther Deaton, 63, of Independence, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired machine operator with Powell Valve Co., Cincinnati. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Deaton; stepsons, Dan Simmons of Independence, David Simmons of Erlanger and Doug Simmons of Florence; daughters, Deanna Sanders and Stacey Engelman, both of Independence, Lisa Hyden of Burlington and Kim Sammons of Florence; a son, Anthony Luther Deaton of Newport; brothers, Asberry Deaton of Independence, Arthur Deaton of Barbourville, Ben Deaton of Lebanon, Ohio, and Sam Deaton of Edgewood; sisters, Maggelean Hensley and Liddie Daniels, both of Norwood, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mann Family Cemetery, Grant County.
