Obituary of Raymond Spears

Raymond E. Spears, age 78, of Verona, KY, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center. He was a retired Vacuum Specialist for Hoover Vacuums, a former cigarette stamper for McLane Trucking, and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Spears was a former member of the Ludlow Masonic Lodge, who enjoyed hunting, cars, baseball, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Alice Wilson Spears and step-son, Scotty Vaught. Survivors include his son, Carlos Spears of Verona; daughter, Leisa (Andy) Mulcahy of Verona; Step-daughter, Shirley Ann (Tom) Vaught of Versailles, KY; brothers, Banlow Spears, Jr. of Florence and Wendell Spears of Somerset; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Chambers & Grubbs in Independence. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be Monday at 2:45 p.m. at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Lexington, KY. Memorials can be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice.
