Obituary of Dorothea Cummins

Dorothea Hutchins Cummins, age 95 of Independence, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at her residence. A homemaker who was a member of Visalia Baptist Church, Oak Ridge Homemakers Club and the Utopia club, Mrs. Cummins also enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and baking. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles Cummins in 1998. Survived by daughter Charlene Harney of Independence, son Gary Cummins of Morning View, sister Eloise Logston of Louisville, brother Glen Hutchins of Dixon, Tn., 2 grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A visitation for Mrs. Cummins will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Independence. The funeral service will follow at 10:30am, also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Garden in Taylor Mill. Memorial donations can be made to Alzheimers Association , 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203 or Hospice of the Bluegrass, Development Office, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
