Obituary of Hazel Hammond

Hazel Julia Redman Hammond, age 94, of Morning View, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the McCall House in Simpsonville, S.C. She was a member of Kenton Baptist Church in Kenton, a member of the Kenton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of the Visalia P.T.A. Ms. Hammond loved a good card game, staying busy and spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband, Roy Hammond preceded her in death in 1960. Survivors include her son, Jerry Hammond, Florence, KY; daughters, Jane Smith of Waddy, KY and Joan Rapp of Simpsonville, SC; sisters, Helen Kloentrup of Morning View and Dixie Redman of Visalia; brother, John Redman of Morning View; and four grandchildren, Bradley Smith, Dustin Smith, Harrison Rapp, and Emily Rapp, and the best of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs in Independence. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Ms. Hammond will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Demossville Baptist Church, 338 Demossville Road, Demossville, KY 41033.
