Dear Janice, Steve, Chris, and family, I was sorry to hear of Jim's death. In my ten years in Walton (and since then), it was always a pleasure to work with Jim and all of you. He and all of you combined what most would consider opposites: professional yet personal; class yet down to earth. I'll always remember my accompanying Jim to Guelph, Canada, for a funeral and his buying me my first and only "Coors" (it was a brand of chocolate milk). You are in Cheryl's and my prayers. Funeral Directors are not exempt from death, grief and sadness. As I stood in the line at the visitation, I could not help but think of how each of you have helped me, my family and so many others during our time of need with friendship built and truly it was evident by the turnout at the visitation for Jim, by many. Please know that each of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love & Hugs, Karen |

I'd like to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to the entire Grubbs family in your time of need. I'd like to thank you for that opportunity in Walton to meet your father, talk to him that day while working. I had heard a lot about him, seen him attend countless funerals but never talked to him one on one before. He seemed to enjoy his journey here on earth and his many accomplishments, in so many words. He put his family in high regard, and seemed to fancy that as his proudest accomplishment. God bless your family in this day and time. Steve Nienaber HC Dunbar Plumbing Services Inc.

Janice Steve and Chris I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jimmy. He was a very friendly man which had an impact on my life at an early age. When I would visit my Uncle Bob in Jackson he would always say to mom how's my buddy up north, Jimmy doing"? During moms last days in the hospital she spoke that Jimmy had been ill and she said she dad been praying for him and wished him well. The Grubbs family has been and helpful and kind in our time of need so please ask if there is anything the Holbrook family can do for you. Knowing mom, she has already made contact with Jimmy and Uncle Bob and they having a reunion and mom is probably doing most of the talking.

I have been actively engaged in the noble profession of funeral service since 1986. One of the very first funeral directors I ever met, upon entering the profession, was Jim Grubbs. Over the years I had occasion to work alongside Jim on several projects. My genuine admiration for him did nothing but grow and grow every time we worked together. His insights were profound and taught me things they never teach in school or that you can read in any book. I found him to be one of the most sincere, kind, genuine, caring, trustworthy, dedicated funeral service professionals I have ever met and/or known. A man of true honor and dignity, who by his very service to the people of Northern Kentucky, helped raised the overall standards of excellence in the profession. Jim will be greatly missed by all those who ever had the great fortune to personally meet and get to know him. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family. Best regards, Chris Kuhnen Edgewood, Kentucky
