Obituary of Robert Sumpter

FLORENCE - Robert Sumpter, 73, died Sunday, March 15, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was a retired construction superintendent for Gateway Concrete Forming Services and an Army veteran. Mr. Sumpter was a member of Orchard Street Baptist Church and Carpenters Union Local No. 126. Survivors include: his wife, Phalia "Faye" Sumpter; a son, Robbie Sumpter of Florence; a daughter, Deborah Sumpter Miller of Florence; a brother, Samuel Lee Sumpter of Inez; two sisters, Wilda Vest of Hebron and Virginia Brobst of Gahanna, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence. The funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at Orchard Street Baptist Church in Elsmere. Entombment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown.
